Jarek Kruk. (De)construction
Female nude, Jarek Kruk’s favorite subject, is at the heart of this exhibition. Sometimes implicit, sometimes explicit… Suggested or unveiled… The female body is a leitmotiv that appears continuously both in the paintings and in the digital drawings of Jarek Kruk. But for this exhibition, Kruk unravels also another aspect of his work: a monumental installation, taking over the space of the Gallery. The installation’s vertical forms echo an important and omnipresent element of his pictural work – the lines.
Jarek Kruk (born in 1956), is a Polish painter and graphic designer. He studied painting and drawing at the Institute of Fine Arts in Lublin, and afterward, he continued his studies at the Fine Arts in Lille, from where he graduated in 1988. Since 1983, he lives and works in France. In his latest figurative pictorial research, he combines traditional (acrylic, charcoal, collage…) and digital techniques. The human being is at the heart of his artistic reflections, along with the questions such as time, space and light, truth and imaginary, false and virtual.
